PART A: Preparation before the trip

1. Visa
  • You'll need a valid Passport and a Chinese VISA to enter China.
  • Since we're from Malaysia, we apply for our Chinese Visa at the Chinese Visa application centre located in Hampshire Place Office, Kuala Lumpur.

    The office address is,
    Level 5 & 6,
    Hampshire Place Office,
    Jalan Mayang Sari,
    50450 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

  • You are required to fill in a form, bring a photocopy of your travel document, 1 passport photo and pay a fee to obtain a VISA.
    - RM80 (normal service: 4 days to process); RM300+ (immediate service).(As of date June 2016)
    - The centre provides a passport photo service, photocopy, and printing service as well.
    - Please visit their Official Website for more information.

2. Attire:
  • For non-fancy dressers: Good ol’ comfy top, a bottoms/ skirt stretchable enough for TRON roller coaster ride (lol) and A MUST - comfortable shoes!

  • For fancy dressers: Gurl, guiseee you know your style. This is optional but you too can try to,
    - Disneybound because it’s so much fun! or
    - Theme dressing with your pals (eg Winnie the Pooh theme, Mickey & friends theme)
    - Twinning outfits for couples and sisters!
    - Lastly, cute and comfortable shoes to match your outfit!

  • If you have a Kid, you could also bring her to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique inside the Castle for a full hair & makeup Princess transformation for a FEE / PRICE. A very magical experience!!!

  • Every Disney Park requires you to walk, long stand and maybe jog a little most of the time. So be sure to put on a pair of comfortable shoes.

Our Mickey, Minnie, Donald & Daisy theme.

3. Bag:
  • A small sling bag or backpacks are recommended.
  • Backpacks are useful.
    - It’s big enough to just dump everything in and carry around.
    - The downside is you have to place your bag under your leg for some rides.
    - Probably need a raincoat for rainy weather.

  • A small sling bag is light & easy.
    - It’s really convenient to keep your phone, park tickets, and a photo pass.
    - The downside, there's no space for bigger items like water bottle or umbrella.

  • Regardless of how big or small your bag is, you still need to proceed to security/bag check before entering the park. (But that isn’t much trouble)

  • Most bags and camera bags will be asked to put under the seats during most of the rides.
  • We just found out there's a luggage storage service right next to the ticket counter.

  • *Bunny tips*
    - Bring the only necessary item (passport/park tickets/camera/water bottle/umbrella/raincoat) with you/in your bag. - And keep the rest in the lockers, it is much more convenient when it comes to playing rides and taking a photo.

4. Food & Drinks:
  • Outside food & drinks are allowed to bring in the park but with T&C apply.
  • Mineral water bottle is sold in the park as well if you wouldn’t mind spending some bucks on it.
  • *Bunny tips*
    - Bring a small 500ml water bottle, IMO water bottles more than 500ml are bulky and heavy.
    - You can refill your empty water bottle as you walk along the park, mostly found near the toilet.

5. NO selfie sticks :
  • Selfie sticks are restricted and 100% does not allow in the park. Probably because you may block people view and hit someone.
  • Also, there’s plenty of photo pass photographer in the park who can take great photos for you!

6. Credit Cards
  • Shanghai Disney Resort and Shanghai Disney store accept foreign credit cards, but we're not sure if all foreign card is accepted. Ours is a VISA card.

7. Recommended items in Summer:
  • A fan is highly recommended. As of now, I don’t think they are selling a fan in the park except for the 200 yuan super expensive but super cool with a water spray gun electric fan.(◕︵◕)
  • Umbrellas and raincoat/poncho. (Disposable cost 10yuan, pretty Disney official cost 50+/- ).
  • Sunblock, it might come in handy.
  • Powerbank / portable charger.

8. Cameras:
  • We're using our trusty Canon DSLR with 18-55mm standard lens for most of our photos.
  • A GoPro Hero 4 sliver with a wrist strap (mostly use in rides) and an iPhone as a secondary camera.

9. Disney Apps :
  • Shanghai Disney Resort app (Left): A virtual map to look around the park and allows you to check the waiting/queuing time for every ride, showtimes, basic information such as toilets location, First Aim centre and etc. (Click here for more info).

  • Photopass app (Right): allows you to view the photos taken by the photo pass photographer and search location for photo pass spot.

  •  Both apps are available for iPhone and Android (photo credits: Shanghai Disneyland)
