On today post I will not be focusing much on journey/process but the frequently ask question i got from my friends, family and etc. So ya Blogpost no.2 of my journey. There's still a mini update below the FAQ so don't miss out!
F.A.Q
1) DOES IT HURT?
Yes it hurts! For the first 24-48 hours! or to put it, once every month? *laughs*
Still, it depends on individual i guess.. but to me, The bonding part (where they glue the brackets on to your teeth) was not painful at all.
Usually my teeth will start to hurt during the first few 72 hours, and it get back to normal after that.
If it still hurts , you can ask for pain killer from your ortho. (Just a little note : I never take pain killer O_O, i somehow enjoy the pain...)
2) Can you eat Chicken?
Seriously out of thousands of food, why chicken? LOLOLL
I think the idea of avoiding chicken...or in other words, hard food was not to loosen up your bracket which would delay your process? But back to the question, well....I suppose i can STILL eat normal chicken, chicken breast & KFC etc, and don't find any problem chewing that finger lickin' kentucky down to my throat *laughs* I also tend to eat my food gently (if i'm in my zen mood) and especially the first 72 hours after my Ortho. visit. Because,
During that fragile time, I can't chew or bite 70% of my meal, thus i will TRY to avoid
- BUBBLE GUM !
- Raw carrots
- Candy (you can suck but can't bite)
- Popcorn
- Hard Chocolate
- Hard meat
- Apple (not sliced)
- Peanuts/nuts
- Fish ball -___- (not sure if is only me)
- and the list go on....
for the first 72 hours.
However, that's what they called "the rules" but sometimes.. i can't resist myself but to break the rules , like who said we can't eat chocolate and all sort of hard chewy food. I can ! Just a bit slower x10 than normal people do. I know i can't bite them so i suck till it get all mushy and soft :D
What's more, I drink or swallow my food most of the time *LOL*. Even till this date, 12/12/2011 I swallow my food... like a child.... -_______,- I know is bad for our digestion.. so i try to break them into small parts before swallowing.
3) How did you brush your teeth?
Like usual with extra care. Try asking your ortho, i bet they will teach you. No worries :)
4) What kind of problems did you faces while wearing braces?
Problem #1
Well, I'm still new at this so ... the biggest problem was MY PRONUNCIATION ! It literally runs, is like speaking will your mouth full.. it's embarrassing. GOSH.
Plus, I went karaoke with my friends the day after i got my braces and my singing was way worse that i used to be, it sounded so awful also my teeth was aching painfully that day so i have to pinch my face every time.. not a good scene to watch.
Problem #2 : Loose brackets, poking wire.
My brackets got loose twice! I have to go all the way to bangsar to fix it.
One of the reason was that, i'm still not really used to have brace in my mouth yet so i tend to play with it with my tongue causing them to loose. :)
Another reason, my ortho increase the size of wire , maybe the force was too big or something IDK...so it crack and got loose? O__O
5) Who is your orthodontist and how much does it cost?
My orthodontist is Dr.How from Dr.How Orthodonthic, Bangsar and it cost RM7.5K.
