Slide The City Malaysia 2015

Slidin' down KL city, back on this tube-gahini
(imagine us singing the english ver of Can't Nobody from 2NE1)

This is the 1st ever Slide the City event in Malaysia! Came all the way from the US they finally held their 1st ever slide on 5th and 6th December 2015 at Putrajaya!

Sooooooo, out of 365 days in the calendar, Tommy (a.k.a Time of the month / period) decide to pay Von a visit, what a luck!
It came 4 DAYS earlier before the event and she’ve been doing all sort of online remedy, drinking plenty of water and green tea, eating spicy food, red bean, papaya and pray to shorten/speed up her period but it sorta-fail. OTL…

She didn’t prepare any tampon or meds, and hell no she not gonna waste 90 bucks just like that. So she went sliding down the city with mr.tommy… LOL TALK ABOUT GELI! BUT FEAR NOT! NOTHING HAPPEN THAT DAY! So is a win-win situation! Sorry if is disgusting to tell you this, but she just wish to share her experiences to all the ladies out there who might have the same situation as her.

Let's slide!
// INTRO //
In the pre-registration form, we did fill a survey where the slide should hold, not sure that’s the reason why Putrajaya was chosen or it’s for their upcoming event but there’s a probability it’s based on the survey they had earlier. The 1st Slide the City in Malaysia basically is just sliding down a long long water slide (just imagine combine few baby pool) on a highway, no buildings around, but they have a lake view. *insert smiley face*… 😁

My family, family's friends and us went super early that day because while we were collecting the slider kit (wristband, shirts, water gun) in Time Square they told us to come 2 hours before our wave time to avoid human jam….but...there’s barely any queue. Since we have so much time... we err... just hang around... cause is not very big tbh.

We park our cars at this parking lot here, but the shuttle bus didn't come so we end up parking at the roadside.

The Baggage counter.

// BEFORE SLIDE INFOMATION //
  1. If you haven't collect your kit yet, head over to the registration counter, present your e-ticket to get your wristband & tube.
  2. The baggage counter is right next to the registration counter, to check your bag, you need to pay RM5 and you will receive another wristband in a different color. RM5 is a one-time thing, you gotta' pay another 5 bucks to deposit your bag again.
  3. If you don’t have a waterproof pouch make sure to put all your electronic device in your bag, including watches.We saw someone being stop for wearing a watch.
  4. They provide male and female changing room “tent” and a surau “tent”. There's no partition inside the changing room fyi.
  5. For Tommy-pad(napkin)-wearing girls, what Von adviced is to remember to take one “napkin” before deposited your bag and use before the slide.

// OTHER ACTIVITES //
Other than the slide itself, they have few different activities in the venue to entertain the guest who came early / waiting for their wave time.

  1. They have few food trucks, we tried one of the spaghetti, it was okay. Spritzer drinks are available almost anywhere and it cost, RM3 for mineral water, RM 4 for soda water.
  2. GoPro booth and their event is something like, taking a photo, remember to hashtag something to win a gopro.
  3. If you up to the game, you could also rent a fancy float at the Float flow booth (picture above)
  4. Playboy booth with girls wearing bunny costume cycling around. Mechanical Bull riding, DUNK me! Strongman game and more!

A voucher was given for winning the game.

We met our friends that day, Unlimited slider comes with WATER GUNS!

// SLIDE TIME //
Our wave time is 11am-1pm, the hottest hour during the day!! We started to queue in line and get a screen check about 10:30am, 30 mins before our wave time. Not long after, the instructor will start a demo on how we can slide using our tubes.

Basic key is, You need to
RUN!

FALL! &

SLIDE!

Seriously is just that simple!

Off we go!!

And we started crashing! HAHA

The staff (guy in white) will help to "untangle" slider who got crashed into each other

Fuck yeah for a smooth ride!

Ok maybe not!

and here's comes the ass

We saw a girl from the other lane, she barely even try running at the starting point and it cause chaos to the people at the back! *opphs* So i guess... to have a smooth ride down, everyone gotta cooperate then! *laughs*

We put our legs up (from what we’ve learn during CNA) and it boost the speed x2. It can be a smoother and faster ride if there weren’t much people stopping along the way! It’s funny if you see people fall and stuff , we're not sure if we have low humour or what

Despite all the crashin' we're still super happy!

Baby Bro!

The end of the lane! Everyone crashed into each other.

If we would give a short review, our triple slider experiences is something like this.

1st slide  : 25%  crashing into few people - 75%  slide.
2nd slide : 60% crashing into people - 40% slide.
3rd slide : 15% crash and 85% slide.

Still, do not get worry if you have no more juice power to slide and got stuck halfway, there’s always staff/helper standing every few feet who will willingly to pull you down. (as seen as the photo above!). Each slide took less than 5 mins from the starting point to the ending point.

This is the screen check before the slide.

In the queue.

// OVERALL & THOUGHTS //
Since we just came back from Cartoon Network Amazone Pattaya, Slides the City was merely a so-so for me, even my friends and brother who never went to CNA thinks is was just “OKAY” slide *do the meh hand sign*

We did not have high expectation on this thus we had so much fun, sliding, laughing watching each other constantly falling and crashing into people. Sure, it didn't look as cool as the ones from other countries video, but they did a pretty good job considering this is their 1st time, and it seems other Malaysians are having a splashing good time too!

Everyone is deflating their tube

JUMP!!

So, the bigger question. Will we slide again?

Honestly, we won't unless our friends wanted us to tag along. We will probably try again, if they held at Genting! LIKE WHY NOT, must be DAMN COLD AF! and... it might be true because some of the people we met told us next one could be in Genting!!! Well, we'll see. Alright, that's all for today.

Till then,
BYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
